In the morning, the sound of the ocean greeted my ears before the fresh scent of the water meeting the soil wafted through the cabin. The wooden floors creaked slightly as I alighted from the bed. The view from the window was one that would take some accustoming; the ocean waves, the palm trees, the soft sands, all forming a picture perfect trio. I reached out for my pink yoga mat and laid it on the floor before descending into my meditation pose, back straight with my hands resting on my folded knees. Next, I bent my legs, then stretched my back forward with my palms facing downwards in child’s pose. After a few minutes of quiet save for the birds chirping, I sauntered to the front porch and laid in the hammock that was fastened between two palm trees. Today was a day of rest and I intend to spend every minute of it basking in nature. The sun was rising on the east horizon, bringing along a new day filled with life and laughter.

The world is a mess right now with so much injustice happening everywhere. While we raise our voices and take action to effect the change we seek, we also need to remember to breathe. I want to share some of my current favorites and I hope you find something you like.

Series I loved: The Chosen

This is the first multi seasonal film about the life of Jesus. At first, I was quite skeptical about it but I fell in love with it easily. The series gave an interesting and relatable back story to the disciples of Jesus. The first season is only eight beautiful episodes. Season 2 is still in the works. A fun fact about the series is that it is totally crowd funded and trust me it doesn’t look like a low-budget movie with terrible acting. The cast of “The Chosen” are really good. It is available on Youtube.

Book I loved: Thirst by Scott Harrison

The book is totally non-fiction. It is a story of how a former New York Party Promoter became the founder of a “Charity: water” whose mission is to bring clean water to everyone who doesn’t have access to water. It takes us through a beautiful journey of redemption, giving and purpose.
